Planning for 2009
Friday, October 24th, 2008Hello all, Mike Sherman here. OK, I know this isn’t the time to talk about spending money, with the economy in the ‘you-know-what’. But I do want to tell anyone out there looking to advertise in 2009, it is in your best interest to start laying in annual buys for next year.
Why? Several reasons. One reason is you get better rates on your media buys. It’s basically buying in bulk which drives the price down. And don’t worry about a lengthy commitment, most media contains cancellation policies so if things don’t go as planned, there is an exit strategy.
Now I will say this isn’t always true. Annual contracts for radio personality endorsements or special TV packages often limit your ability to cancel early. Fair enough, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. Billboard contracts are pretty tough to get out of once you’ve signed them so be careful there.
OK, back to the annual buys. If you aren’t sure about how to handle them, or if you want some advice, let me know! I’m always here to help. You can call my office at 704.820.3968 or email me at mike@designonecreative.com.
Best thing I can say today, if you’re in business, and who of us aren’t? If we all hang in there together and try to help each other any way we can, when this all turns around, we’ll be better off for it. Take care.
